The Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) is an annual assessment of land suitable for residential development that the Council expects to deliver housing over the next 15 years or more. A 5 year land supply position is the supply of specific deliverable sites sufficient to provide 5 years’ worth of housing (and appropriate buffer) against our housing requirement. The Council can demonstrate a supply of specific, deliverable sites for housing equivalent to 8.4 years supply.
To inform the SHLAA, the Council undertook a ‘Call for Sites’ exercise to see if any additional sites may be suitable for inclusion in the Council’s supply of housing land. The sites submitted are set out in Appendix B below. Most sites put forward were in the Green Belt and therefore not suitable for housing or other development. The sites submitted that were considered suitable for housing or other development were already known to the Council.
