How to report emergency highway damage by phone
To report an emergency incident relating to the highway, please report by phone as soon as possible. To report by phone, Monday to Friday between 8am and 4pm please call 0345 140 0845 To report by phone outside of these hours, please call 0151 922 6107 and report to Sefton Arc out of hours team. Highway damage that can be reported online
Highway damage that is not an emergency as described below can be reported online through the form.
- Blocked gullies or drains in the road (not on private property)
- Carriageway (road) potholes
- Carriageway (road) requires resurfacing
- Defective gully or grid covers in the road
- Defective man hole covers in the road or on the Footway/pavement on the pavement (not on private property)
- Defective or missing road signs
- Defective or missing street name plates
- Defective utility boxes
- Footway (pavement) needs resurfacing
- Grass on public land needs cutting
- Hedges need cutting
- Defective or missing guard rails
- Defective road markings
- Defective Footway (pavement) eg. potholes
- Uneven Footway (pavement)
Once we receive your online report we will investigate within 10 working days of receipt.
A repair may take up to 28 days after our initial inspection. This depends on the severity of the defect.
If our Inspectors deem the defect as dangerous then we will aim to make a repair within two hours.
