Raise a Concern Process

Safeguarding

Safeguarding helps adults stay independent, healthy, and free from abuse or neglect. It’s everyone’s responsibility, including yours, to prevent abuse.

If you see something concerning, report it quickly to stop it from getting worse.

Raise a Concern

  • Do you think a vulnerable adult is being harmed or at risk of harmed by themselves or someone else?
  • Are you worried a vulnerable adult is being neglected or mistreated at home or in care?
  • If you answered yes to either of these questions, call 0345 140 0845 to report your concerns. Even if you’re unsure, it’s okay to call. All reports are checked, and no action is taken unless necessary.

Process

What will I be asked?

We will ask for information about:

  • Yourself (unless you want to stay anonymous)
  • The person you’re concerned about
  • The alleged abuser
  • What you have seen or heard
  • We’ll inform you who needs to be told.

What will happen next?

  • We’ll ensure the vulnerable adult is safe and contact anyone we need information from.
  • We’ll talk to the adult concerned, unless it puts them at risk.
  • A decision will be made within 48 hours about what action is needed. Further enquiries may follow.
  • The time this takes depends on the issues and the person’s wishes.
  • We may refer you to someone else for help, depending on the concern and the person affected. We’ll keep you informed as soon as possible.

Remember, if it’s an emergency, dial 999.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.
