Interview: Marie Carney

Here, we meet Marie Carney, a Graphic Designer with the Communications and Engagement Team. Marie was nominated because by a colleague who she went the extra mile to support. You may even recognise her team’s work from the branding at the Sefton Stars event...

So, Marie, what exactly is your role as a Graphic designer?

My job is to support departments across the Council by, offering creative graphic design assistance, keeping branding consistent and professional.

What’s that work like?

Work is quite varied, designing anything from logos, public facing strategy documents, pull up banners to marketing campaign materials.

Sounds like you’ve been busy!

There’s always something new and interesting to do!

This year I’ve helped produce the Transformation Plan, Adult Social Care documents for the CQC inspection and the Position Statement for the LGA Peer Review, along with corporate brand collateral across the Council plus more large-scale, visual, outdoor hoarding designs for the Strand Transformation.

And one of those pieces of work led to your nomination...

That’s right! Lauren Rastall nominated me for the work I did on the LGA Peer Revisit Position Statement. This went through multiple iterations with changing requirements and a tight turnaround.

How did it feel to get that nomination from Lauren?

The nomination was totally unexpected, I felt really touched that I’d been recognised by one of my colleagues. Sefton is a great place to work and the people I have worked with have always been so kind and appreciative of our work in the team. Thanks Lauren, it’s always a pleasure working with you!
