Danny Doyle gave his Business Rates team a special shout out and took the time to explain why.
You can see Danny talk about his team in our video about Stars nominees and the people who made nominations:
Thanks for getting involved in the Stars programme, Danny! Could you tell us more about your team?
The Business Rates team sits in the Revenues department. It consists of four officers – Catherine Leonard, Helen Glover, Lauren Mcvay and Sean Harris, and a Business Rates Development Officer, Sally Neophytou.
My team are responsible for for the billing, collection and recovery of Business Rates.
Why did you decide to nominate them through the staff recognition form this year?
I’ve nominated them because of their outstanding service, exceptional performance and dedication to their work and their customers.
They’ve achieved an awful lot over the last 12 months. They went into the year with a large backlog because of Covid grants – but they’ve received and completed approximately 19,000 pieces of work and are now dealing with work they’re receiving on the same day.
On top of that, they’ve answered over 2,300 phone calls, they’ve updated the procedures library for all Business Rates procedures, they’ve updated all pages of the Sefton Council website for Business Rates, and they’ve also contributed to the Council retaining its Customer Services Excellence award.
If I was to describe them in three words, I would say: dedicated, driven and innovative.
Rather than just giving internal feedback, you’ve taken the time to nominate them for a Star award – why?
I think it’s important to have a staff recognition programme because it allows us to celebrate the outstanding work from our hardworking team members. It also boosts morale and motivation and creates a stronger organisation.
