World Environment Day, 5 June 2024
Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and held annually on 5 June since 1973, World Environment Day is the largest global platform for environmental public outreach and is celebrated by millions of people across the world.
The campaign for 2024 focuses on drought, land degradation and desertification. Using the hashtag #GenerationRestoration, the campaign calls for governments, businesses, communities and individuals to give nature a helping hand and forge a more sustainable world for generations to come.
A helpful and practical guide has been produced that offers simple steps to making a positive difference.

Earth Hour 2024

Every year in late March, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) encourages everyone around the world to switch off their (non-essential) lights and appliances for just one hour. It’s an easy way to show your support and show you care about the planet. Hopefully it will encourage you to only switch on what you need and reduce your overall energy consumption at other times as well. Not only will this help the planet it’ll save you money!
This is one of the easiest events on the Environmental Awareness Calendar to observe. The more people that take part, the more of a difference we can make.

Bootle Climate Action Festival 2023
The 2023 Bootle Climate Action Festival returned for it’s second year this September, taking place at Salt and Tar at Bootle Canalside.
The one-day community event was a success with over 400 people attending, all with the aim of coming together to highlight the ‘green’ measures that can help to protect the local community and live more sustainably.
