You can now recycle more from home
01 April 2026 2 min read
Recycling from home has now become even easier. Sefton’s brown bin and recycling sack service is expanding, giving residents the opportunity to recycle a wider range of everyday items.
Simple aim
The aim is simple: to help you recycle more easily, cut down on waste and do even more to protect our environment.
Households can now include aluminium foil, food and drink cartons, aerosols and a wider range of plastics such plastic food pots, tubs, and trays in their normal kerbside recycling collections.
Some items like crisp packets, plastic bags and drinking glasses still can’t be recycled from home.
Government’s Recycling requirements
These improvements forms part of the Government’s Simpler Recycling requirements, designed to make recycling collections across England more consistent.
By ensuring that everyone can recycle the same core materials, the new system will help to reduce confusion, increase recycling rates and support a more sustainable future.
Collection days
Collection days will remain the same – every fortnight they are now.
