Work underway to reduce risk of future floods at Fouracres in Maghull

As a result of Sefton Council securing Quick Win funding from the Merseyside Flood Risk Partnership, a new pump is being installed in Fouracres, Maghull.
Heavy rainfall
The new equipment, which his being installed by United Utilities. It will help reduce the chance of a repeat of flooding, which has affected the area several times, by helping the network cope during periods of heavy rainfall.
Letters have been sent by United Utilities to local residents about the work, which is due to take about six weeks to complete. In the letters, the company assures residents its team will make sure this work causes as little disruption as possible.
Quick Win
Sefton Council leader and Molyneux ward councillor, Marion Atkinson said: “I am glad to see this work is underway as a result of us obtaining this Quick Win funding from the Merseyside Flood Risk Partnership.
“I realise it might mean a little bit of inconvenience for local residents while the work is being carried out, but I hope this will be more than outweighed by the reduced risk of further flooding in the future.”

Bill Esterson, MP for Sefton Central welcomed the work on social media saying: “I’m very grateful to residents and local councillors for working with my office to make the case to Sefton Council and United Utilities.
“It’s excellent news that they have joined forces and secured government funding for this much-needed flood protection work.”
The Merseyside Flood Risk Partnership is provided through the North West Regional Flood and Coastal Committee.
