17 July 2025 3min read

Sefton Council is proud to celebrate Woodlands Primary School in Formby, which has been named the winner of the 2025 LACA Primary School Catering Team Award.

This top catering award recognises excellence in school food and catering and is awarded by LACA (The Lead Association for Catering in Education) - the biggest representatives of the school meals sector in the UK.

Woodland Primary’s catering service is proudly delivered by Sefton Catering Service, whose teams work across the borough to provide high-quality, nutritious meals for thousands of pupils every day.

A Well-Deserved Win

The award is a significant achievement and a testament to the hard work, creativity and commitment of Head Chef Holly Charnock and the entire catering team at Woodlands. Their passion for delivering healthy meals, creating positive dining experiences, and supporting children’s wellbeing shines through in everything they do.

This award also builds on an impressive track record:

  • In 2019, the school won Young Baking Team of the Year.
  • In 2020, Holly Charnock was named School Cook of the Year - one of the highest individual honours in the industry.

Celebrating Excellence in Sefton

This latest award not only highlights the excellence of the team at Woodlands but also reflects the continued success of Sefton’s in-house school meals teams, who go above and beyond to serve nutritious food and create supportive mealtime environments across our schools.

Congratulations to Holly and the whole team at Woodlands Primary – you’ve done Sefton proud!
