Volunteers Wanted to Welcome Visitors to the 154th Open Championship

Sefton residents are being invited to take part in a major international sporting event when The 154th Open Championship comes to Royal Birkdale, Southport.
Friendly and enthusiastic volunteers are needed to join the Open Host Team, during the event from, from the 12th to the 19th of July 2026 They will helping to welcome thousands of visitors and ensuring everyone attending receives a warm, positive and memorable experience throughout the championship week.
Open Hosts play a key role in supporting visitors by providing directions, sharing local knowledge and assisting with the smooth flow of people around key locations.
Volunteer roles will be based at off‑course locations, including transport hubs, Park & Ride sites, walking routes and course access points.
What volunteers will be asked to do:
- Welcome visitors and spectators
- Provide directions and helpful information
- Share local and event‑related knowledge
- Support visitor movement at transport hubs and entry points
- Act as a friendly, visible and reassuring presence
To apply, you must be:
- Aged 18 or over
- Friendly, approachable and confident when speaking to the public
- Available to volunteer between 12th and 19th July 2026
- Able to travel to an assigned location
- Willing to complete pre‑event training
- Shifts are up to six hours
