Sefton Libraries host Gaming Together exhibition to pit generations against each other

Sefton Library Service is hosting the new Gaming Together Exhibition highlighting the history and development of gaming across Merseyside.

Funded by a microgrant from Arts Council England and Libraries Connected, the exhibition highlights how gaming has developed since it’s early days through to the modern virtual reality gaming of this decade.

Curated by Sefton Council librarian Ben Kelly, the interactive exhibition allows parents to take on their children  on many retro consoles such as the Sega Mega Drive and NES.

Many games have been developed in Merseyside, and current gaming developers have contributed to the exhibition. The exhibition, based at Crosby Library, is open now and runs until Friday, May 23rd and it will then move around the Liverpool City region.

Cllr Liz Dowd, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Partnership engagement said: “I’m delighted that Sefton Council’s Libraries service has developed such an exciting interactive exhibition.

"I'd like to say a huge well-done to Ben, our young curator. Some of the world’s best-known games have come from our City Region and as last year’s Make Mine Manga programme showed there is a high level of interest from the public in these kind of exhibits."
