Residents, businesses, community organisations and people who spend time in Bootle are being encouraged to help shape the future of the area through the Pride in Place programme.

Supporting community-led change and strengthening local neighbourhoods

The Bootle South area has been selected to take part in the UK Government's Pride in Place programme. Pride in Place is a long-term investment initiative designed to support community-led change and strengthen local neighbourhoods. Led by Peter Dowd MP and an independent Neighbourhood Board, the programme is managed by Sefton Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) in partnership with Sefton Council. 

The consultation is now underway and local people are being invited to help create a shared vision for the area. This will help determine how investment is used to support local priorities over the next ten years.

Bootle South Pride in Place Programme Manager, Stuart McGrory, said:

"Pride in Place is all about putting communities at the heart of decision-making and ensuring investment reflects the priorities of the people who know the area best.

"Whether you live, work, study or spend time in Bootle, I would encourage you to take a few minutes to complete the survey and share your ideas. Your views will help create a long-term vision that can make a real difference to the area over the coming years."

A Neighbourhood Board has been set up and its first meeting has taken place. The Board is responsible for developing a four-year investment plan and a ten-year vision for Bootle South, which will be submitted to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) in November 2026.

People who live, work, study or spend time in Bootle are encouraged to complete the online survey before the consultation closes on Monday 31st August 2026.

The survey takes around 10 to 15 minutes to complete and is available online here.

Those who don’t have easy online access and want to share their views, can take advantage of free computer, Internet and Wi-Fi access in Sefton’s libraries.

Paper copies of the survey are available from the Strand By Me shop in Bootle Strand. Anyone who would prefer to complete a shorter survey or discuss the programme can email contact@prideinplacebootle.org.uk.
