Free events to bring warmth to Sefton this November

Sefton residents will have the opportunity to visit free ‘one stop shops’ for wellbeing advice in a pair of events this November.

Sefton Council’s Healthy Green Homes team is joining Sefton O.P.E.R.A Older Persons Project in running two “Keep Warm, Keep Well” sessions, aimed at older members of the community.

Sessions, which run from 10:30am to 12:30pm, are free to attend.

The first “Keep Warm, Keep Well” event will be held at the Beaconsfield Club in Bootle on Monday 10th November.

A week later (Monday 17th November), residents in the north of the Borough can head to The Atkinson in Southport.

Cllr Mhairi Doyle, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Wellbeing, said: “It’s always wonderful to see the “Keep Warm, Keep Well” events and how popular they are year after year.

“Whether someone wants guidance on benefits, pensions and energy bills or just wants some free entertainment and refreshments, the events have something for everyone.”

Vikki Martlow, Organisational Manager at Sefton O.P.E.R.A, said: “We’ve been running this event for around 15 years, and it has been wonderful to give people a one stop shop for advice and guidance.

“It continues the work we do at Sefton O.P.E.R.A all year round and having the support of organisations including Sefton Council’s Healthy Green Homes team makes a real difference.

“It’s not just about advice – people can come along to meet others, enjoy entertainment and have a lovely morning. We hope this year’s events will be the most popular yet.”

People seeking further details about the events can call 0151 330 0479 or send an email to admin@seftonopera.org.uk.
