At their meeting next week, Sefton Council’s Cabinet are being asked to approve the use of land at site of the former Bootle High School to create over 50 new, affordable family homes.

With the Government’s national housing policy’s focus on the delivery of more, affordable family homes, the Council’s vision for the Bootle High site is 100% affordable housing developed by One Vision Housing.

National housing policy

Sefton Council leader Cllr Marion Atkinson said: “The Bootle High site provides Sefton Council with the opportunity to work with One Vision Housing to create 53 new affordable family homes that will help tackle that need in line with the Government’s new, national housing policy.

“We will be working with One Vision to finalise the best mix of 2, 3 and 4 bed family homes with the right combination of social rent and low-cost ownership options.”

With Cabinet and Council approval of the proposed scheme, construction will start this financial year.

Excited partner

Roy Williams, Group CEO at The Sovini Group (One Vision Housing) said: “We are excited to partner with Sefton Council on the development of significant new housing. This crucial initiative is set to provide much-needed social housing, creating opportunities for local people to thrive in high-quality, affordable homes and contribute to vibrant and inclusive communities.”

All homes at the site will be built to Building Regulations 2021 standards which result in a 31% reduction of carbon and all homes are anticipated to have a minimum EPC rating of B and electric charging points as standard.

Stability

Cllr Atkinson added: “Having high-quality homes they can afford provides families with the stability they need and with the security that helps ensure our young people don’t miss out on education and other opportunities for life.

“I hope my colleagues will agree that this is a great opportunity to provide residents with a choice of affordable housing types and tenures”
