Join us in celebrating the launch of a new Sefton Council news podcast with an exciting competition for a free Family Pass to Southport Air Show and more! 

The MySefton News Podcast begins today (Wednesday 19th August) and is available on all your favourite listening platforms, as well as your smart speaker. 

New route for local news 

The MySefton News Podcast is a new way to hear about what is going on across the Borough and celebrate the brilliant people that make Sefton a great place to live in, work in and visit. 

In the first episode, hosts Ollie and Martin look back on the outstanding Salt and Tar Music Weekender, hosted by Lock & Quay last weekend. 

There's an update on the Local Plan, news about the Marine Lake Events Centre and a reflection on a fantastic Summer Reading Challenge in Sefton's libraries. 

We also look ahead to two major events, the Southport Flower Show and the Southport Air Show. 

Competition time 

Speaking of the Southport Air Show, the podcast begins with a special competition. One lucky entrant will win a family pass to the ever-popular air display, with the world-famous Red Arrows featuring again this year. 

What's more, the winner will get a voucher for Southport Market so they can choose from one of the many vendors on offer. 

All you have to do is listen to the first MySefton News Podcast episode and follow the instructions on how to enter. You've got until Wednesday 26th August to enter, so don't miss out!

Terms and Conditions for the My Sefton News Podcast Airshow and Southport Market Competition

1. Eligibility

1.1 The competition is open to residents of the United Kingdom aged 18 years or over. 

1.2 Employees of Sefton Council, Southport Air Show, Southport Market, their immediate families, and anyone professionally connected with the competition are not eligible to enter. 

1.3 Proof of age and identity may be required. 

2. Entry Period

2.1 The competition will run from (19/08/26 at 08:00 -26/08/26 at 17:00) 

2.2 Entries received after the stated closing date and time will not be considered. 

3. How to Enter

3.1 To enter the competition, participants must email their answer to the competition question featured in the My Sefton News Podcast to communications@sefton.gov.uk during the competition entry period. 

3.2 The answer provided must be correct to qualify for entry into the prize draw. 

3.3 Only entries containing the correct answer will be included in the random draw to select the winner. 

3.4 Only one entry per person is permitted unless otherwise stated. 

3.5 Entries received after the closing date and time will not be considered. 

3.6 Entries that are incomplete, illegible, or do not comply with these terms and conditions will be disqualified. 

4. Prize Details

4.1 The prize consists of:  

• One (1) Family Pass admitting up to four people to the 2026 Southport Air Show. 

• £40 worth of vouchers to spend at Southport Market. 

4.2 The prize is non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and no cash alternative will be offered. 

4.3 The promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize with one of equal or greater value if circumstances beyond its control make this necessary. 

5. Winner Selection

5.1 One winner will be selected at random from all eligible entries containing the correct answer received during the competition period. The selection will be made using an online random name picker. 

5.2 The winner will be notified using the contact details provided in their entry within seven (7) days of the competition closing date. 

6. Claiming the Prize

6.1 The winner must claim their prize within seven (7) days of being notified. 

6.2 If the winner cannot be contacted, does not respond within the required timeframe, or is unable to accept the prize, the promoter reserves the right to select an alternative winner. 

7. Prize Conditions

7.2 Southport Market vouchers are valid only at participating traders within Southport Market and are subject to any terms and expiry dates specified on the vouchers. 

7.3 Travel, accommodation, and any other expenses are not included unless otherwise stated. 

8. Data Protection

8.1 Personal data supplied during the course of this competition will be processed solely for the purpose of administering the competition and awarding the prize.

9. General

9.1 Sefton Council reserves the right to amend, suspend, or withdraw the competition at any time where it becomes necessary to do so. 

9.2 Sefton Council's decision regarding any aspect of the competition is final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into. 

9.3 Entry into the competition constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions. 

10. Governing Law

10.1 These terms and conditions are governed by English law. 

10.2 Any disputes arising from or in connection with the competition will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
