Statement of Accounts
The annual Statement of Accounts reports on the Council’s financial position at the end of the year and transactions during the year.

Annual Audit Letter
The Council’s external auditors publish an Annual Audit Letter following the publication of the Statement of Accounts. This is presented to the Council’s Audit and Governance Committee.

Councillors' Allowances and Expenses
The Scheme of Members’ Allowances is made under powers conferred by Section 174 of the Local Government Act 1972 and the Local Authorities (Members’ Allowances) (England) Regulations 2003.
The payment amounts and terms of the scheme are those recommended by an Independent Remuneration Panel, consisting of three non-Councillors.
All Councillors receive a standard basic allowance to cover basic duties and all Council business travel within the borough.
Members may also be nominated to represent Sefton Council on outside bodies, such as the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Authority etc and may receive further allowances from these bodies. Further details are available from the individual body they represent.
