Workforce learning and development

The aim of the team is to provide and or commission a range of learning and development opportunities to meet statutory and local requirements in line with the Directorate and Service (social care) training priorities and to support recruitment, re-skilling and retention needs. 

We work across the social care sector including statutory, independent and voluntary providers.

Organisations that deliver a social care service within the Sefton geographical area can access any of the training events on this page.

Providers that support people with learning disabilities may find the the information about the Health Charter, the toolkit and guidance of benefit to their service.

As indicated in previous publicity please be advised that as from 1st April 2015 charges for places on training events will apply to some programmes for Non Sefton Council employees. The charge per place is indicated against each event.

All training events can be view viewed via the Online Booking System which includes

  • Information on content of courses,
  • Guidance on who should attend and also the
  • Number of places currently available
  • Cost per place

Click here and select the Browse option and then ensure the target area you choose is Social Care Providers - Working with Adults in Sefton.

To book a place on an event you can either complete the booking form as normal OR login and self-enrol your staff directly onto the course. You will require a login which can be obtained by e-mailing Lynn.Parsons@sefton.gov.uk with your name / organisation / job role.

The Health Charter for Social Care Providers is designed to support social care providers, working in partnership with their health colleagues, to tackle some of the health inequalities that people with learning disabilities experience. Providers can sign up to the Charter on the Voluntary Organisations Disabilities Group (VODG) website. 

The Health Charter for Social Care Providers comes with guidance to support the implentation of the Charter and a self-assessment toolkit.
