Check in on friends, family and neighbours
If there is someone you know who may be feeling lonely and isolated, why not pop round for a brew and let them know about some of the great things that are going on locally that they could get involved in!
Taking the time to regularly look in on a relative, friend or neighbour could be enough to help them feel less isolated and more involved in the community. Spending just a few minutes with someone you know can help them feel less isolated; you may be the only friendly face they see from one day to the next.
Rough Sleepers in Sefton
Sefton Council has a range of services for rough sleepers throughout the borough which are available all year round.
Services are at hand as we to try and reduce the number of people sleeping rough in Sefton.
If you see anyone sleeping rough or have any concerns about someone on the street, please get in touch. This is especially important during the cold winter months.
To report an incident of rough sleeping in Sefton please call the Rough Sleeper Outreach Team via Light for Life on 01704 501256 or 07918 746042 outside normal office hours and weekends.
Alternatively, email firstname.lastname@example.org and provide details of the location and any description of the person. We will acknowledge your email and give you a response to your report.
No-one needs to sleep rough and services are available including a ‘sit up’ service providing an overnight room at hostels in Southport and Bootle if needed.

Be prepared for cold weather
Keep an eye on weather forecasts or sign up for weather alerts from the Met Office and check the Envronmental Agengy's flood warnings to ensure you’re prepared for bad weather.
If the forecast looks bad make sure you have enough food in the cupboards and order repeat prescriptions in plenty of time.
If you need to leave the house wrap up using lots of layers and wear suitable footwear. If you have asthma, cover your mouth with a scarf and remember to keep your inhaler with you.
Try to keep your home heated to at least 18°C, block out any draughts and keep windows and curtains closed.
Have at least one hot meal a day and drink plenty of warm drinks.
Ensured that your gas appliances are serviced by a Gas Safe registered engineer to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
Get your flu jab
You can get a free flu jab from your GP and some pharmacies if:
- You’re 65 or over
- You receive Carer’s Allowance, or you are the carer of a person whose welfare will be affected if you become unwell
- You have a long-term health condition – such as diabetes, a heart condition, asthma or lung disease, a kidney or liver problem, Parkinson’s, or if you have had a stroke
- You are living in a long-stay residential care home
