Determination of the Proposal to close St Teresa's Catholic Infant School, Everton Road, Southport
Following completion of the statutory process, Sefton Council's Cabinet approved the proposal to close St Teresa's Catholic Infant School at their meeting on 26th May 2022. The school will close on 31st August 2022. The reason for the closure is due to lack of demand for places and resulting financial difficulties.
Statutory Proposal for the closure of St Teresa's Catholic Infant School, Everton Road, Southport
At a meeting on 4th October 2021 Sefton Council's Cabinet agreed to proceed with the request from the Governing Body of St Teresa's Catholic Infant School to commence the statutory consultation process.
The consultation regarding the proposal to close St Teresa's Catholic Infant School with effect from 31st August 2022 ran from 22nd November 2021 until 17th December 2021. On 3rd February 2022 Sefton's Cabinet considered the Head of Education's report on the outcome of the consultation and approved the publication of the statutory notice to close.
The notice will be published in the Southport Champion on 2nd March 2022 and a copy of the notice and complete proposal is available at the link below.
Within four weeks of the date of publication of this proposal, any person may object to or make comments on this proposal by sending them to School Organisation Team, Sefton Council, Town Hall, Oriel Road, Bootle L20 7AE. The four-week representation period will end on 30th March 2022. Any representations will be considered at a future meeting of the Cabinet when a final decision will be made on whether to close the school.
