Article 4 Direction for Houses in Multiple Occupation

The Council is consulting on the documents below. Comments concerning the Article 4 Direction should be made in writing to the Local Plan Team, Magdalen House, 30 Trinity Road, Bootle L20 3NJ or by the end of Friday 13th April 2018.

On 20th September 2017 the Council issued a ‘non-immediate’ Article 4 direction for HMOs in parts of Bootle, Litherland, Seaforth, Waterloo and Southport. There will be a 1 year period before this direction is implemented. The direction removes permitted development rights for the change of use from a use falling within Class C3 (dwellinghouse) to a use falling within Class C4 (Houses of Multiple Occupation).

No comments were received in an earlier formal notification and consultation (September to December 2017); however there is now another opportunity to comment, as above.

The Article 4 Direction, will come into force, subject to confirmation by the Council, on Thursday 20th September 2018.
