Phase 2 of works to Hightown railway footbridge
The first stage of planned works were undertaken in 2020 and work focused on the refurbishment of the ramps and steps of the bridge.
The remaining work, Phase 2, focuses on the refurbishment of the span over the tracks.
The works are planned to take place between mid-February 2022 and May 2022. The dates may change slightly due to weather conditions.
Will the bridge be closed?
The two Sunday nights when the bridge is expected to be closed are likely to be Sunday 20th February 2022 and Sunday 27th February 22.
The closures will be after train services have finished and a pedestrian diversion route will be available.
When will the work happen?
The main work will be undertaken at night time once passenger train movements have finished. Train services and arrangements for passengers should be unaffected. During the works the bridge will remain open to pedestrians, except for the two Sundays listed above.
