The enabling works will include improvements to the Cooksland and Allengate car parks, utilising space and maximising the number of available high-quality parking spaces at these two locations. Both car parks will be future proofed to include electric vehicle charging spaces and easy pedestrian routes through the car parks to the town centre high street.
The junction of the A565 Liverpool Road / The By-Pass and the B5193 Islington / Coronation Road/ Church Road junction will be reconfigured from the existing priority controlled roundabout at Coronation Road to a four arm signalised junction. The current approach on the By-Pass will be reduced from two lanes to one and the A565 Liverpool Road arm will be realigned into a left only and right only lane. This will allow for traffic to move more freely around the edge of the town centre and easily access parking spaces at the two key car parks.
