Covid-19: Library Services at home

Sefton Library Service’s buildings are currently closed, to help reduce the risk of spreading the Coronavirus.

Our digital library is open online; library members can borrow -e-books, e-audiobooks and read the daily newspapers. Information about this is available via the library service website

It's like having your own personalised library in your pocket!

We will be sharing updates, reading suggestions, online storytimes and much more via our social media channels:

The UK's number 1 digital library app is available for all Sefton Library members. This means avid book fans can read or even listen to their favourite read, all for FREE! This innovative app offers users the chance to digitally borrow 1000s of e-books and e-audiobooks for limited periods. You can read or listen to a huge selection of titles from the world's best authors.

RBdigital offers a range of e-audiobooks to download and listen to, many of which are always available with no reservation list. Whether you are into bestselling thrillers, cosy sagas or hilarious children's stories, you can browse, read and download them all to your tablet, iPad or smartphone.

RBdigital also offers unlimited digital newspapers in partnership with PressReader, to help keep you up-to-date with daily news and current affairs at this time. There are thousands of local, national and global publications available to read through the app and online through the website.

In response to the temporary closure of our library buildings and courtesy of ProQuest, Ancestry can now be accessed free from your home computer or tablet. Simply log in to your library account and follow the link to the Ancestry.

Weekly virtual Storytime

Libraries understand the importance of enjoying stories together.  Join us every Monday 10.30am on the Sefton Libraries Facebook page, where you and your toddler can and enjoy watching one of our pre -recorded films. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to our Libraries story and rhyme times when it is safe to do so. For now please enjoy our virtual Storytelling.

Online Reading group

Check out the online reading group, via the library Facebook Page – Sefton Libraries.  Our aim is to get people talking and sharing, using our Digital Libraries titles available via the Boorowbox and RBDigital Apps. The new book is revealed fortnightly on a Sunday morning. Share you reviews online!

To contact us, or to join the library, simply email  and ask for a joining form.

If you have books on loan, these will be renewed for you, so please keep hold of them until we can safely reopen.
