Lost Castles

Lostcastles Sefton RGB

The Project

An Englishman’s home is his castle. And now long-forgotten, long-departed battlements are set to spring up all over the Liverpool City Region once more – thanks to a French artist.

Olivier Grossetête creates amazing edifices using nothing more than cardboard boxes and copious amounts of sticky tape.

Sefton’s project will focus on a re-creation of Miller’s Castle which stood in Bootle in the early 19th century and it will be put on display at North Park, Bootle on the weekend of August 11 & 12.

And once it’s all over, the ‘castle’ will be responsibly recycled, making it artwork that’s also environmentally-friendly.

As well as the castle being put on display, there will be a weekend-long series of events including live music, outdoor theatre, arts and craft, a fairground, food concessions and more!

How to Get Involved

We are looking for community groups, organisations and individuals to come along and help make this unique project happen.

There are a diverse range of roles to get involved with:

• Volunteering to help build the castle (July 31 - August 3 & August 9)
• Volunteering on the day of the main event (August 11)
• Creative performances at the event
