Properties to rent

Virtually all housing associations in Sefton use the Property Pool Plus scheme to share details of properties they have available to rent. Some accredited private landlord properties are also advertised on Property Pool Plus.

The Property Pool Plus housing allocations scheme is administered by One Vision Housing (OVH) on behalf of Sefton Council.

To apply and get registered visit the Property Pool Plus website or get in touch by email.

Sanctuary Housing are no longer part of the Property Pool Plus scheme and operate their own waiting list. Sefton residents can apply to join Sanctuary Housing’s waiting list by contacting their Customer Service Centre on 0800 131 3348 or by visiting their website www.sanctuary-housing.co.uk. Sanctuary Housing’s Applying for Housing Guide provides further details about their allocations process.

Private rented housing

You could try to find housing in the private rented sector. Our Housing Options service may be able to advise you how to find out what housing is available locally.

A private rented property must meet certain requirements; e.g. tenancy agreement, gas safety certificate, Energy Performance Certificate. The Council operates Private Rented Licensing schemes. If a property is within an area of the borough where a Licensing scheme is in operation, the property/landlord should have a valid license. You can check at; https://housinglicensing.sefton.gov.uk/online-application/public-register/

We can also provide advise on how to apply for help with your housing costs. You might be able to get help with a deposit through:

• Our private rented sector bond scheme managed by our Housing Options service. The applicant must be either homeless (actual or threatened) or is being assisted to prevent homelessness or relieve homelessness

• Applying to our Housing Benefits service for a Discretionary Housing Payment for securing private sector tenancy
