Tell us about a change of address

If you move house or your household is changing, it is important you tell us as soon as possible so we can send you a new Demand for Council Tax.

You only need to complete one of the On-line forms found in the Do it online section of this web page. You can identify the correct form meeting your circumstances by expanding the information sections below.

If you are moving into Sefton from outside the area or setting up Council Tax for the first time (for example. moving from family and friends and previously not liable for Council Tax), please complete the ‘Moving into Sefton’ online form.

However, if you are moving into Sefton and want to make a claim for benefit, please complete the ‘Benefit Calculator and Online Claim Form’. You can also use this form to complete a calculation to see what benefit you may be entitled to.

For further information about benefits please see the pages listed in the 'related links' area of this page.

If you are moving to an address outside Sefton please complete the ‘Moving out’ online form. You can also use this form to tell us that you are moving out to an address in Sefton but will not be liable for Council Tax as the Bill payer. (For example: staying with family or friends and have no legal interest in the property you are moving to or as a C/O address). You can also use this form if you own a property, which is empty and want to notify us that the property has been sold.

If you are moving from one Sefton address to another please complete the ‘Moving within Sefton’ online form.

However, if you are currently receiving entitlement to Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction or Universal Credit and wish to receive this support at your new address you will need to complete the ‘Report a change in circumstances’ on-line form to notify us about your change of address. Alternatively, if you are making a new claim for benefit at your new address in Sefton you will need to complete the ‘Benefit Calculator and Online Claim Form’.
