The world of employment and thinking about your future career can be daunting, but fear not, there is lots of really useful support out there for young people. 

If you are looking for employment, training or further education, you have already made a good start just by being online, as this is where most jobs you look for will be advertised.

 

Finding the right job for you

For help with everything from how to job search to writing your CV, how to prep for interviews to work experience and everything in-between, visit the Career Connect website and check out their dedicated section for young people. 

 

Apprenticeships and Traineeships

In your school, whatever your age, you can talk to an Independent Adviser and a School Careers Teacher to talk about your options, including apprenticeships, traineeships and further education. You can also go online for extra resources, advice and support to while you think about your future.

If you are 16 – 18 years old and not accessing education or training you can get information, advice and guidance on a number of opportunities to progress your education or career plans from Connexions- Sefton Council’s careers information, advice and guidance service.

You will also find support from Sefton at Work, who prepare you for a life in the workplace with a range of courses, including CV building and work experience. For more information, visit the Sefton at Work website

If you are thinking about further education when you reach 16 years of age, there are a number of colleges in Sefton and across Merseyside. These include:
