COVID-19 Update: Current Guidance for Attendance at Funerals
Following guidance from the ICCM and the Federation of Burial and Cremation Authorities we have been advised that only immediate families should attend funerals at this time.
- Brothers/Sisters and
- Children (and their partners)
We are now advising that a maximum of 30 people should attend burials and cremations at this time.
In the crematorium chapels: a maximum of 20 people are allowed inside and 10 people may attend outside, other mourners should not gather in the entrance or exit areas.
Mourners will be able to socially distance inside the chapels without the need to wear face-coverings; they may, however, wear face-coverings but must still follow social-distancing guidelines.
National expectations for social distancing should be observed at all times.
Mourners should wait outside or in their cars until the funeral is ready to start.
Cremation times will be 30mins long, 20mins in chapel.
Please fully adhere to your cremation time and be patient while the chapel and hand-washing facility is sanitised.
Please also be aware that asymptomatic mourners in self-isolation are allowed to attend funerals and, for example, care should be taken if you are a ‘shielded’ mourners who also want to attend the same service.
Other mourners should not gather in the entrance or exit areas.
In regard to burials, please move away from the graveside following the funeral service.
Burial time allocation is 20 minutes and time is needed for staff to safely back fill the grave and move on to further burials.
Ashes scattering and burials are suspended; they will resume soon.
The book room is open during office hours but the page will not be turned to another date.
Please do not contact the office to find out a funeral time.
If you are looking for a grave, please email us with the name of the deceased and the year they passed away.
For all other enquiries, please email firstname.lastname@example.org - we aim to reply within 21 days.
We are working to get services back to normal in line with this roadmap.
