Local archives and history - Information Services

The libraries Information Services offer a comprehensive range of information sources including those for local and family history. There are a range of online services including free access to Oxford reference materials, government information, newspapers, theory tests for learner drivers, and the online family history resource Ancestry Library Edition (Ancestry is only available from computers in Sefton libraries). We also sell our own local history publications.

How to use the service

The library information service is based at Crosby Library and is available at the following times.

Opening Hours

Monday - Friday 10:00am – 5:00pm
Saturday 10:00am – 2:00pm

The information service is a free service whether or not you are a member of the library. However, we do ask you to sign in each time you visit to use the local and family history sources, by putting your name and address in our register.

For detailed research we can supply you with a list of local independent searchers who would charge a fee. Please note Sefton Council is not responsible for research carried out by third parties. We can deal with limited written enquiries involving searches of our collection for our standard fee.
