What is an Aquathlon?
An Aquathlon consists of a continuous, two-stage race involving swimming followed by running. Aquathlon have been around in various forms since the early 20th century and is an excellent way for novice athletes to enter the world of multisport. For experienced triathletes they can add some spice to their race programmes.
Active Workforce have again successfully organised another great event, giving people the opportunity to try something new whether they’re a beginner or pro! The first ever Active Workforce Aquathlon took place on Sunday 10th September 2017 at Dunes Splashworld & Victoria Park, Southport. Employees of each partner organisations entered, plus friends and family who either competed or came to support.
Participants gave brilliant feedback about the day and are looking forward to racing again in 2018. A select number of participants from the 6 partners of Active Workforce, told us:
Geoffrey Davis – Sefton Library Service
“Thanks to the Active Workforce Team for organising another fantastic event. I have never taken part in an Aquathlon so was a little nervous to start off but I will definitely be keeping up the training and entering next years’ event.”
Grace Taylor – Active Lifestyles
“I was a little hesitant to sign up at first, but my dad and I thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the event. It was great to try something different and share the day with my dad. We will be signing up to Active Workforce’s events in future. Thank you & well done to the team for organising such a successful day.”
Laura Pitter – Public
“Thanks to the Active Workforce Team and their volunteers. A very well organised event in lovely surroundings! I will definitely do it again next year.”
We would like to thank all participants, volunteers and supporters for making our first Aquathlon so successful. We look forward to seeing you all at the start line next year!
