The Housing Options Team provides a free confidential service on a wide range of housing issues. These include

- What can be done if you need to leave your home because of threats of violence
- Explaining legal rights and obligations of tenants and landlords
- Advice about the housing register
- Domestic violence
- Temporary accommodation options
- Our specially trained staff will give you help, support and practical advice. You can discuss your legal and housing options in confidence with someone who understands your problems.

A similar range of services are provided at the Southport Housing Advice Centre, which is operated on behalf of the Council by Light for Life.
You can now find out about the range of housing options available to you by completing our online advice service (Enhanced Housing Options) via Property Pool Plus on www.propertypoolplus.org.uk.
If you are already registered on PPP login using your reference number, look at your “My To Do” list and select Enhanced Housing Options. Complete this online assessment tool and you will be given a range of options that will be suitable for you. If you indicate that you are “Interested” in any of the options, this option will then form part of your “Next Steps” housing plan. Once you have finished you can either download the document or e-mail it to yourself. If appropriate you may now see additional options within your “My To Do” list.

Once you have provided your basic personal details you will be given a reference number which you should record. You can then complete the online assessment tool and you will be given a range of options that will be suitable for you. Out of Office Appointments
The Housing Options service seeks to provide a good level of customer care and engagement, which assists customers to access the services. It is also important that services are provided in an efficient manner, which makes best use of our staff resource and their time.
Out of office appointments will only be undertaken in the following 'exceptional circumstances', where the client is:
- Currently an inpatient in hospital;
- Currently resident in a care setting (nursing or residential home);
- Is housebound or disabled to an extent that they will not be able to attend at either Bootle or Southport offices;
- Any other 'exceptional circumstance', which would prevent the ability to attend either Bootle or Southport offices.
The out of office appointment will normally be conducted at the client's current home, or other suitable location agreed with the client. The Housing Options Team contact details can be found below.
If you have nowhere to stay or if it is unsafe for you to return home, or you will be homeless within the next 28 days, you should contact the Housing Options Team on 0345 140 0845.
To access the service out of normal office hours (evenings, weekends and public holidays) call the emergency duty team on 0151 920 8234. This service is for emergencies only and will include general advice and help to find temporary emergency accommodation.
Your home may be adapted where it is essential to give a disabled person better freedom of movement around the house.
This type of work can include widening doors, installing ramps, providing a specially adapted room, installing a stair lift or a downstairs bathroom.
Before any work is carried out an Occupational therapist will make a decision on if the work is necessary and feasible. Request an appointment by calling Sefton Council on 0345 140 0845. You can also request an assessment through drop in clinics, your GP or other relevant health professional.
Sheltered Housing is generally offered by housing associations and is normally allocated based on age and/or disability or vulnerability. To access this housing you will need to be registered on Property Pool Plus.
Sefton Careline or Sefton Arc provides Lifeline, Telecare and Telehealth 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. State-of-the-art healthcare and security services play a key role in helping the elderly and vulnerable stay out of hospital and live an independent lifestyle.
The Council also provides Disabled Facilities Grants that enable a disabled people to remain in their home by adapting the home.
