Walking in Sefton
Walking is an excellent way to make many short journeys and
is also a valuable leisure activity. It is healthy,
convenient, cheap, environmentally friendly and sustainable.
Walking has a major role to play in achieving the objectives
of the Merseyside Local Transport Plan (LTP). One of the main aims
of the LTP is to increase walking in order to reduce the
use of private cars and improve the quality of life for all.
Sefton Council is dedicated to
making the Borough safe and convenient for pedestrians,
giving priority to people walking, improving
the quality of pavements and footpaths,
providing better integration with public
transport and promoting walking as a healthy
alternative to the car.
To achieve this Sefton Council works
closely with its partners (Travelwise, Primary Care Trusts etc..)
to promote walking and encourage people to include walking as part
of their daily lives.
