Sefton Council uses World Mental Health Day as reminder of local We're Here campaign

Sefton Council is using World Mental Health Day on Tuesday 10th October to remind people across the Borough about its We’re Here campaign for local people looking for support with their mental health.

Launched in September, We’re Here features a QR code that people can use to link with a central source of local information where they can find more information and support for how they are feeling. Hosted by Sefton Council for Voluntary Services (CVS), the web page, at www.seftoninmind.org.uk, has links to organisations across Sefton and beyond where people can find support and help.

One in four

Up to one in four people experience mental health issues at some point in their lives. Sometimes they understand something is not right but are not quite sure what it is. The We’re Here campaign is there for anyone in Sefton who may feel like that and who wants some support with their mental health and wellbeing.

Following the We’re Here QR code they can find a broad range of local help and support for a wide variety of issues as well as how to contact more immediate support if experiencing crisis.

Locations across Sefton

We’re Here messages have been appearing at locations across Sefton including on Merseyrail trains and stations, buses and bus shelters, in supermarkets and on phone boxes.

Local Sefton shops and businesses as well as cafés, pubs restaurants and bars have also agreed to display We’re Here materials such as posters, stickers and beer mats to support their customers.

Very local scheme

Cllr Ian Moncur, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing said: “We wanted to take the opportunity of today’s world-wide Mental Health Day to remind people about a very local scheme in Sefton, designed to connecting people who may be facing mental health issues with ways they can find support.

“I would like to thank everyone behind this campaign and our partners such as CVS and Merseyrail, but also all those local shops, business, pubs and cafes that are supporting local people by displaying the We’re Here messages in everyday locations.”

Local organisations such as Sean’s Place have worked with Sefton Council and CVS to develop We’re Here, which is also supported by Merseyrail.
