Success for Sefton@Work team as they celebrate new premises

Last week, Sefton@Work brought residents, council staff, partners, and politicians together to the celebrate the opening of their new and improved at Bootle Strand premises.

Having spent over 20 years based on Bootle’s Stanley Road, Sefton@Work, who offer free advice to jobseekers and employers are now in the former British Heart Foundation store on The Stand’s lower ground floor opposite the Post Office.

Almost 100 people came along to the event which was described as a great success.

"So much help"

One guest said it was “great to find out about the range of support available” while another added that they “didn’t realise there was so much help” for residents and employers across the Borough.

Members of the friendly Sefton@Work team were on hand to provide individual consultations for visitors. They were also sharing information on the support they can provide, alongside other services, activities, and partners, to provide a holistic approach to people’s individual goals.

Sefton@Work partners brought stands to the event. They included Council services such as the Affordable Warmth Team, Active Sefton, and Sefton Community Learning, as well as organisations such as Sefton Citizens Advice, Career Connect, and Housing Options.

Improved facilities

Visitors were able to explore the huge improvements of the new premises, with improved facilities to deliver a wider range of support and training.

There were also speeches from Sefton Council Chief Executive Phil Porter, Bootle MP Peter Dowd, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Skills Cllr Christine Howard and the Council’s Assistant Director for Economic Growth and Housing, Stuart Barnes.

Cllr Howard said: “Events like this are key to the Council’s vision for The Strand as the heart of the town’s community, making it a place where people can still shop, but also find vital services like Sefton@Work as well as education, health and leisure opportunities.

“The new and improved facilities will enable the team to deliver an even wider range of support and training opportunities. So, whether you are looking for support that’s with training, education, recruitment, or self-employment, go and speak to the team in The Strand.

“The fantastic turn out indicates the incredible impact the Sefton@Work team has on the local community.”

Sefton@Work offers free, confidential, impartial advice and guidance to Sefton residents over 16 years of age on all aspects of jobs, education, training, including self-employment.

The team provide a range of offer varied types of client centred support to meet each individual’s needs. This can include help back into work, finding their first job or help with a change of career.

Sefton@Work also provides free recruitment services for local employers, which includes advertising vacancies, managing applications and pre-screening applicants. Businesses get a free, bespoke recruitment service via our Employer Liaison Team.
