Sefton Council has confirmed it caught up with grey bins collections and has again thanked residents for their cooperation.

A Council spokesperson said: “Last week, we asked residents to leave their grey bins out for collection if they had not been emptied on the scheduled day, which enabled us to catch up on collections by the end of Saturday as planned.

“We would like to thank everyone for their patience and for following guidance.

“From today we will collecting brown bins that were scheduled to be collected due the week commencing Monday 25th December, as we highlighted before Christmas. These will be collected on their usual collection day.”

The recent changes to waste collections are due to the Council’s Christmas and New Year shutdown, which most Sefton Council staff are required to take unpaid leave as part of a series of cost-saving measures.  Bin collections during this period rely on staff volunteering to work, which means the service ran at reduced capacity.

The spokesperson added:
“We can confirm that bin collections will now return to the usual schedule.”
