New Bootle venue Salt and Tar has been nominated for two awards following its highly successful music event this summer.

Thousands of people from as far as France and Australia visited the venue in July to see local stars Red Rum Club perform alongside The Lathums and Cast.

National recognition

Now, the event is up for the ‘Best New Festival’ and ‘Best Small Festival’ categories at this year’s UK Festival Awards. The Awards celebrate and acknowledge the ‘creativity, tenacity and energy that powers our world leading festival industry.’

All shortlisting for the two awards is decided by a public vote, with the final winner chosen by a judging panel.

Councillor Marion Atkinson, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Skills said: “Salt and Tar’s music event was a tremendous success and I’m delighted that it has been recognised nationally with two nominations in the UK Festival Awards.

“Over 6,000 tickets were sold across the music weekend in July and we received lots of fantastic feedback from attendees, businesses and performers. It is clear that Salt and Tar has great potential as a venue and this is just the start of an incredibly exciting future.

“Well done to everyone who was involved in bringing the event to life. I think it’s well deserving of the awards and would love to see people showing their support by heading to the website to vote.”
