Twin daughters and a folk-rock whirlwind forced Kathryn Roberts (Vocals / Piano / Woodwind), and Sean Lakeman (Guitar), to sideline their popular duo performances in the mid noughties. Now the timing is right for a return to form from the Dartmoor based couple.

Two of the British folk scenes most accomplished performers, Kathryn and Sean have graced stages the world over in a number of guises, however, the intimacy and strength of passion shown as a duo, combined with an eclectic repertoire ensures a rare treat for any listener.

Richard Alston Dance Company is a world-class dance company renowned for the musicality of the choreography. The Company will bring three pieces including two with live music, for its debut at The Atkinson.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS is danced to the beautiful, lucid and flowing music of Mozart, played live – the two movements of an unfinished piano sonata, Opus K533.

LACHRYMAE set to the compassionate and tender music of Benjamin Britten for viola and piano, played live, spins emotional variations on a gentle song by John Dowland – quietly but deeply moving.

ROUGHCUT is danced to the peals of Steve Reich’s shimmeringly beautiful New York and Electric Counterpoints, for clarinet and guitar.

There is a Pre-show talk with Richard Alston before the performance.

Hailing from Winnipeg, Canada, and renowned as one of the hardest working independent musicians touring the globe today, Mayes has chipped away at the rock and roll stone over the past couple of decades, and now, this Juno nominated, CFMA nominated, four time WCMA award winner, has done it again.

Come and join us and get involved in our fun filled morning of centre activities. We will be doing a range of spring activities including decorating watering cans, sun catches, cookery activity, flower planting and also activities for babies such as hand painting, messy and sensory play.

We have places available for Bronze, Silver and Gold groups for practice and qualifying expeditions, either on foot or mountain biking. Support also provided for all 4 sections of the Award
All staff have enhanced CRB clearance, and are experienced and qualified e.g Mountain Leader, Mountain Bike Instructors.

Adapted from the wonderful, heart-warming story by Jonathan Emmett with beautiful illustrations by Rebecca Harry, Topsy Turvy Theatre effortlessly brings to life the tale of a little duckling struggling to find her feet.

Join us on an adventure we can all relate to - growing up! The smallest of her brothers and sisters, Ruby was the last to hatch, the last to eat and the last to swim.

Using live theatre, stunning scenery, beautiful handmade puppets and original music, our talented and experienced performers tell the story of how Ruby grew up... in her own time.

Topsy Turvy is high energy, fast paced and visually captivating theatre. Instead of passively watching, our audiences are invited to take us by the hand and join us on our adventure as we tell the story of Ruby.

Written especially for children ages 3-7 years.

SO WHO ARE THE STUMBLE?...

If you’ve seen us before then you will know that we are all about live rapturous Chicago style rhythm & blues. If you are new to the band, then allow me to explain ...

The Stumble are a six piece band based in and around Preston in the North-West and what you get is a classic valve driven back line driven with shuffle and roll. Influences range from B.B. King, Freddy King, Muddy Waters, Maceo Parker, The Allman Brother’s Band, Booker T, King Curtis etc. Basically, if music has that screwed down ambient live feel expressed by some of these guys, then it’ll get on our turntable.

The way to our hearts is through our stomach, but what about yours? The Southport Food and Drink Festival has an abundance of fresh produce, a wealth of local restaurants, plenty to drink along the way, plus a selection of the regions finest chefs demonstrating their kitchen skills. Let us work our way to your heart with our weekend dedicated to food and drink…see you there!

Fun and games in the park organised by the Community Parks Officers

Come along to All Saints children’s centre and get involved in our messy play activity day. Our activities include giant splash painting, jelly play and get your hands and feet messy with our spaghetti, shaving foam and glup play.
