Providers of
courses in Sefton, such as Schools, Colleges and Work-Based
Learning Providers, work together to give young people between the
ages of 14 and 19 a wider choice of opportunities in years 10 &
11, and in years 12 & 13.
What courses are available in years 10 and 11?
Pupils have been able to study for GCSE subjects for many years.
As well, there is now a range of Diplomas that is growing each
year. One Diploma can be followed in the place of up to 7 GCSE
subjects.

What courses are available in years 12 and 13?
In addition to existing courses, all of the Diplomas are
available at Advanced Level. A further development is the increase
in Apprenticeships available. It is anticipated that by the year
2013, 40% of young people in Sefton will be studying A Levels, 40%
will be studying Diplomas and 20% following Apprenticeships.
