Equality and diversity
What do we mean by Equality & Diversity?
Equality of opportunity describes addressing those barriers that
prevent social, economic and political participation due to a
persons’ race, gender, religion or belief, sexual orientation,
disability, age, class or gender reassignment.
Diversity is based upon the concept that people should be valued
as individuals with different skills, personalities and work
styles. Recognising and treating everyone with respect and
promoting both individual and group differences.

We ensure all our services, programmes and operations reflect
commitment to and implementation of equality, diversity and

Sefton Community Learning Service is aware that it has a legal

victimisation and any other conduct prohibited by the Equality Act
2010
* Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a
protected characteristic and people who do not share it
* Foster good relations between people who share a protected
characteristic and people who do not share it
As part of that commitment Sefton Community Learning Service
aims to be a leading organisation for equality and diversity and
acknowledges that equality of opportunity and the recognition and
promotion of diversity are integral to its success.
Sefton Community Learning Service will maintain an inclusive
working and learning environment where learners, staff and visitors
feel welcome, safe, valued and respected, as well as embracing and
nurturing the diversity of skills and talent with its current and
potential community. Sefton Community Learning Service will also
ensure that curriculum content, materials and delivery reflect the
Services commitment to equality and diversity.
Sefton Community Learning Service will work towards early
identification and meeting of learner support needs for all
learners.
