Records and archives

Seaforth HouseTreasures of the past

Archives are records of organisations and individuals. For example school log books, council minutes, diaries, business accounts and parish registers are all archives. Archives can be the record of everyday life as well as the history of a major institution.

Archives in Sefton are managed mainly by staff in the library service. There is further information on access to Sefton's archives and on where to go for further advice. Or why not visit our local and family history library service page?

You may wish to contact one of the library staff by email or phone to find out more. We can also help with your enquiries about other archive repositories.

Records of births, deaths and marriages

Further information on obtaining birth, death and marriage certificates from 1837 is available from the Registration Service. Guidance on historical searches before 1837 is also available from library staff.

We look forward to hearing from you.
