Formby Point
The impact of sand extraction at Formby Point
In 2007 Sefton Council Leisure Services Department was awarded
a grant from Natural England, through the Aggregates Levy
Sustainability Fund, for an investigation of the history and impact
of sand extraction at Formby Point. Reports of the history,
archaeological evidence
Part 1,
Part 2,
Part 3 and impacts on
biodiversity and
geodiversity were commissioned. Sefton Council’s Coast Defence
Team prepared a summary report. Formby Civic Society supported the
project with archive research, oral history and public
meetings.
