Thousands Flock To Maghull (VIDEO)
Thousands of people flocked to a special exhibition to
remember Maghull’s most famous resident.
The Frank Hornby Experience paid tribute to the visionary
inventor who revolutionised the world of children's toys during the
early 20th century.
It is thought to be the first ever event purely dedicated to
Hornby’s work – and attracted visitors and exhibitors from across
the region and beyond.
They were treated to a wonderful array of Meccano, model
railways and dinky toys with displays by the Hornby Railway
Collectors Association, Northern Meccano Society and the Merseyside
Model Railway Society.
Visitors were also encouraged to enjoy a Hornby heritage trail
– taking in buildings and landmarks around Maghull with links to
the legendary inventor.
The event was organised by the Altside Business Village, in
conjunction with Sefton Council, Maghull Town Council, and National
Museums Liverpool.
