Mayor's Charity Fund

"One of the best things about the Fund is that all the money raised goes to support charitable and voluntary organisations and individuals within Sefton"

  • Registered Charity No: 1026227

The Mayor of Sefton's Charity Fund is a Trust that was set up to assist the people of Sefton.  It helps many of the smaller charitable and voluntary groups that do not have a national profile and sometimes find fund-raising rather difficult because they are not well known outside of the local area in which they operate.  **
The Charity Fund has four Trustees: the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Chief Executive of Sefton Council and Finance Director of Sefton Council and there is a Trust Deed that is lodged with the Charity Commission. The Fund is managed by The Mayor of Sefton's Office, Bootle Town Hall, Oriel Road, Bootle, L20 7AE.

The Charity Fund has five committees (all volunteers) that work across the Borough organising fund raising activities within their area. Application for financial assistance can alternatively be made directly to them by applying to the Chairman or Secretary of any of the committees listed below.

The committees are always looking for people to help them with their fund-raising and anyone willing to offer some spare time can approach the Chairmen of their local area. Any assistance would be gratefully received. The money from the Fund is distributed once a year, after the Mayor's term of office. Donations are only made to those who have completed the required Application Form. These can be obtained from any of the above Committees or directly from the Mayor's Office. The amount of money donated to each applicant varies and depends on the amount raised and the decision of the Trustees. The closing date for receipt of applications is 30 June every year and the money is distributed in October/November.

Some examples of groups that have been helped by the fund in the past, include playgroups, scouts, guides, older people, people with disabilities and health problems, underprivileged children, youth, special interest groups, animal welfare, and many more. People living in Sefton can be assured that they are helping their own community in supporting the Mayor of Sefton's Charity Fund, as the money raised is always spent locally.
