PSHE
Personal, Social and Health Education and Sefton Healthy
Schools Programme
"PSHE comprises all aspects of schools' planned provision to
promote their children's personal and social development, including
health and well-being." (QCA)
Issues and aspects dealt with include-
Citizenship, Sex and Relationship Education, Substance Use and
Misuse, Safety, organisational health, eating and health, dealing
with difference, emotional health, anti-bullying, teaching and
learning, research, personal safety, inter-personal skills, self
esteem, school councils etc. These are responded to within a
curriculum framework supporting educational entitlement for all
pupils and as part of a whole school approach.
Lead education partner for the Sefton Healthy School
Programme
This is not an external
quality mark nor an award scheme although it is quality assured to
the National Standard. It was developed by Sefton Schools and
partner services as a means of providing on-going structured
support for schools. It acts as a model for school improvement,
quality assurance, a co-ordinating structure for agencies and
services. Key principles include giving young people a voice,
inclusion, working in partnership, developing an evidence based
approach, a whole school community approach.
